Kuva
Gourmet café & wine bar
Kuva is a self-initiated branding project for a gourmet café and wine bar,
exploring how visual identity can express refinement, atmosphere, and sensory
experience through minimal and expressive design.
Overview
Background
Kuva was created as a conceptual brand for a high-end café and wine bar imagined as a curated dining destination. The project explores how typography, form, and color can communicate taste, balance, and sophistication without relying on excess or decoration.
Focus
The focus was on building a refined yet approachable identity that reflects both culinary culture and social experience. The brand needed to feel premium, modern, and inviting — suitable for a space where food, wine, and atmosphere work together.
Design Approach
Core Idea
The logo focuses on clarity and recognition. A restrained palette of royal gold and wine tones reinforces a premium feel, while the minimal structure keeps the identity clean, confident, and timeless.
Visual Choices
The logo is based on a bold circular form paired with custom typography, symbolizing unity, balance, and continuity. The composition feels confident and expressive while remaining clean and timeless.
Color & Type
A deep wine red paired with warm golden tones was chosen to reference wine culture and understated luxury. Typography balances structure and softness, reinforcing a refined atmosphere without feeling rigid or formal.
Outcome
Process
The process began with research into boutique cafés and wine venues, followed by typographic exploration and logo sketching. Visual directions were refined digitally and tested across signage, menus, and tabletop applications.
Final look
The final identity is elegant, cohesive, and adaptable. It translates seamlessly across physical and digital touchpoints, creating a consistent visual presence that enhances the dining experience.
What It shows
This project demonstrates my ability to create premium brand identities that rely on restraint, balance, and thoughtful visual decisions rather than decorative complexity.
Final notes
Designing Kuva was an exploration of atmosphere, balance, and detail. Every decision was made to shape a refined, sensory-driven experience - the kind of place I would personally want to visit. The result is a brand that feels curated and confident, where elegance comes naturally and nothing feels forced or excessive.
